Classes and Instruction:
I teach clases through the Boulder Digital Arts group, pARTiculars Gallery and Teaching Studio, and independently. I also do private tutoring. See the agenda and description below for the basic introduction to photography class. I sometimes lead nature/landscape shoots along the front range of Colorado and a spring or fall tour in the canyonlands of south eastern Utah.  These are often listed on my Meetup.com group: http://meetup.com/stevegandyphotography

Contact me if you have any questions or want to set something up.

          Quotes from students:

"I learned so much in just a short period of time. I would recommend it to anyone. Steve took concepts that always seemed like Klingon language and was able to make it so that now I know what is happening." C.T.

"Thank you for all you did. I really appreciate it. I learned more in the 90 minutes with you last night than I did trying to read it myself over the last 3 months.  Maybe you helped clarify what I had read previously but you made it come alive. "

"I've only been able to attend 1 activity so far, but it was terrific. Eldorado Canyon at sunrise is a very spiritual experience. You really understand why early morning/evening light is so special in photography. I enjoyed Steve's tips and tricks photographing during morning light, such as adjusting the white balance function to add more warmth to a photo." S.A.

"Excellent! I learned a lot about my camera. Steve was quite knowledgeable and willing to help." B.B.

"Had a great time this morning! Learned a ton from Steve and had a blast getting more comfortable with my tripod and camera features. Looking forward to more of these!" E.C.

          Hands-On Digital Photography Intro

          Description:

Learn the basics of using a digital camera at home, at work, or traveling, whether you have a point-and-shoot with some features or a fancy new DSLR. This intimate, laid-back, and non-competitive class will teach you how to use your new camera - or make better use of your existing camera's features.

With a mixture of lecture and hands-on photography, this class will cover taking photographs and setting up a digital photo workflow. You must take some photos before you come, but we'll also shoot during the day.

Part 1 - Getting to Know Your Camera and the Most Important Settings
Part 2 - Shooting with your New Skills

Part 3 - Post Processing Overview, Tips, and Final Questions

After shooting, we'll review your images using your preferred software (iPhoto, Lightroom, Aperture, etc.). You will receive feedback, tips and management techniques based on the widely accepted ASMP Best Practices website and book as well as exposure and composition help.

Bring your camera, cables, memory cards, laptop and everything that came with the camera, especially the manual! Every camera model is unique, and if we can't solve a problem, we can look it up!
